Ladies Love Outlaws:
Waylon Jennings

This is my daughter Hannah, age 12 when this picture was taken, posing backstage with Waylon Jennings in Las Vegas, NV in 2000.

I took the photo above in 2001 in Albuquerque, NM backstage prior to a Waylon Jennings concert; my husband and I had been acquainted with Waylon and his band for over 25 years and still keep in touch with some of his former band members.

Pictured below is Reggie Young, probably regarded as one of the best guitarists in the world. Remember the opening guitar lick on Dobie Gray's song "Drift Away"? That was Reggie who has played with practically everyone including Elvis. He was part of Waylon's band during his last tours. Reggie is married to Waylon's former fiddle player, Jenny Lynn Hollowell. We attended their beautiful wedding in Franklin, TN in 2004.

This is Rance Wasson, guitarist and backup singer for Waylon. He and his wife Marie live near Nashville. We've known Rance and Marie since we all lived in Tulsa in the 1980's.

Buddy Guy:

Legend

Blues legend Buddy Guy played a powerhouse 90 minute concert Sunday, Nov. 11 at the ShoMe Center in Cape Girardeau.
After two great warm up acts, guitarist Bruce Zimmerman and singer Big Larry Williams,
the 71 year old Guy opened his set with "Slippin' Out" and the energy never faded until the show was over. Guy, always the showman, left the stage several times to walk around and sit among the audience while singing and playing his Stratocaster. His 4 piece back up band was equally impressive, especially guitarist Rick Hall, who mostly matched Guy lick for lick. In between songs, Guy kept the crowd entertained with his very colorful brand of humor.
Buddy Guy has been a presence on the west Chicago Blues music scene since moving there from Louisiana in 1957. He cut his musical teeth by playing with such artists as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush and Junior Wells among others. The five time Grammy winner is often cited as a big influence on Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn to name a few. In 2005, Guy was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also owns the Chicago blues club Buddy Guy's Legends which features well known and soon to be well known blues musicians. (My husband, Butch was at his club in 2003 and got to meet Guy)
During the Sunday concert, Guy said that this was his first time playing in Cape Girardeau and he hoped we liked what we heard. I know I did and judging from the reaction of the crowd, so did everyone! This was my third time to see Guy perform live and in my opinion, the best show I've seen him do.
